Welcome to the club
Try mpv, but I don’t know if it does what you want. At least it doesn’t have the bitchiness of vlc.
Quite a few people use Hypnotix.
How to install (with what command) Hypnotix?
It’s in the AUR, so you could use yay
yay hypnotix
or any other aur helper of your preference.
What is the difference between hypnotix and hypnotix-git?
Typically the -git version of a package is the bleeding edge version (=has all the latest changes) of the same (non-git) package.
Kodi is too heavy for you?
I would be more interested in a lightweight mpv frontend that supports iptv / m3u
Rather than asking people to guess an application that matches your specific tastes, check this wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/List_of_applications

Technically, the OP was asking “what application do you use?” rather than “give me an application I like”.
I can recommend celluloid.
