What is your main constructive criticism about EOS?

The only way to get that out of the box is to convince the ɢɴᴏᴍᴇ developers to listen to the feedback from users. Good luck with that!

Maybe try reverse psychology, convince them that having desktop icons would make ɢɴᴏᴍᴇ suck even more, they might just add it then… In any case, it won’t be a setting… Settings are so 2010s, now the user does as he is told. iT’s mORe SecUre ThAT wAy!

Wait, on Gnome you need an extension to hide desktop icons? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hmm. What could you be implying by that clever little gif, or did you have an epiphany?

I’m just surprised. “Shock and awe”, you know?

In fact, I am basically satisfied with everything that EOS offers me, which is why I have been using it on a daily basis for more than three years now. It only has small errors that hinder its operation from time to time, which usually occur when packages are updated. These can be easily mastered if one regularly reads the forum or searches the Internet about Arch Linux.

EOS doesn’t make the DE’s, nor mess much with them at all. You get your Gnome, KDE, XFCE… the way the ones who make them (Gnome, KDE, XFCE) release them. The Gnome developers made Gnome that way, and not EOS’s business to fix! The EOS team has nothing to do with it. It’s why I prefer KDE Plasma! It’s the Swiss army knife of desktops, and still light and responsive, although your options are so vast it leads to sensory overload in some people.

Nobody blames EOS.

There are no desktop icons in Gnome apart from which you open from the super key by default.

This is not 1976, nobody needs desktop icons. It’s a bloat.

ddnn is being disingenuous as he always been when talking about Gnome.

Gnome is always winning. KDE user and WM user be malding, with their shitty looking riced desktop from 2008 with desktop icons lmao.

I see we have a comedian in the house, and they’re hilarious!

So replying with a meme makes something disingenuous? Noted.

Absolutely. Yes.

It’s by definition.

I mean, you won’t see me on KDE threads because I don’t care a jot about it. You won’t see me poke fun of them unprovoked neither.

Not sure why you are giving me the definition of disingenuous, when the subject of my sentence was the word “meme”. :person_shrugging:

But let me help you with that:

oxford dictionary:

meme - an image, a video, a piece of text, etc. that is passed very quickly from one internet user to another, often with slight changes that make it humorous

That meme doesn’t exist in vacuum. It’s not a blank image. Not a blank video. And not a random pieces of texts.

It’s a modal of communication. In which you convey your intention of being disingenuous.

And because it’s disingenuous or perhaps a poor attempt of sarcasm, people doesn’t “get it”. And like a bad sarcasm/joke, people led to believe something other than you intended it to be.

I shouldn’t have to explain this to you this long. It wastes my time. This thread intended to cover constructive criticism, if you want to make joke or memes I believe there are specific thread made for it somewhere.

There are some users here who can’t see memes or emotes, so they would only see the text. I think you should focus on the text.

That was a genuine question in which I made that exact expression IRL, and thought, “Let’s add the meme of what I just did”.

But you like to fight so,

yeah, right.

I apologize for the interruptions. Just checking in to the friendly and helpful community in the forum.

Nothing surprises me anymore.

My comment was on topic. I answered the question at hand. Yours is just fluff. It s elitist/absolutist comments like this that ruins any attempt to communicate to others. I like desktop icons, and use them often yet you would have me believe that you know what s better for me than I know myself.

Their about literally says “cRPG elitist. Gnome desktop extremist”. Just respond to them with laughing emojis. They’ll eventually read the room.

But as was said, no need for more responses to off-topic issues.
