A stone cold MASTERPIECE.
I saw them tour when this one came out, in my town. Private Investigations and Telegraph Road were as incredible live as the album, and Knopfler, who notoriously despised touring and being a guitar heroā¦I will never forgetā¦for the Tunnel of Love guitar solo I could see him hunker into a crouch, behind the amps, not facing the stage. letting the solo rip. wow.
Communique still my favorite. And Portobello.
Just started watching drifters (I read it years ago, seems itās still ongoing, bet thereās quite a few chapters), finally decided to watch the anime, I mean I loved hellsing, so itās gotta be pretty good, right?
Anyhow, I got to the opening, and the song they used for it is an absolute banger!
Couple that with awesome animation too, and you have a pretty great combo.
Full song here too:
Sometimes these anime openings and endings are really awesome, but I think this might have been the first time where the moment I heard it first I automatically started bobbing my head with it ![]()
first time ever listening to them tonight. i googled irish punk band and they came up on thread on reedit. i guess they are rather good from what everyone said on there. i like em <3
& another song that i love from the 90s:
it is the theme song to party of five if you guys know that american tv show that played in the 90s
2more:
I never saw them live which is one of my regrets, but I probably wouldnāt have enjoyed it that much anyway because, as I found out at a U2 concert, I really hate crowds.
Got a few things, mix of genres i deecided to combine into one post, itās a bit like a mini-playlist with a bit of a story behind it.
I use this neat little app called transistor to listen to the radio in my car, speakerās busted so i just have a bluetooth speaker, connect it to my phone, listen to the radio through transistor; itās highly convenient because I like to listen to my home countryās radio stations sometimes, but Iām not that frequently there. And also sometimes i wanna listen to something else when I am there. Transistor allows me to do that, I just add streaming urls for whatever radio station I wanna listen to and Iām in business!
So, sometimes when Iām listening to the radio in my car, a really awesome song I donāt recognize comes on. and when that happens and I wanna remember, I take a quick screenshot so I can lader add it to some lists.
Rn Iām going over these screenshots, and listening to those songs again to add them to playlists.
Here are some of the more interesting (and obscure) songs Iāve been finding. Stuff I certainly wouldnāt know existed if I didnāt sometimes listen to some extremely obscure radio channels
:
Nice stoner rock ![]()
The toxic cover was an oddity to hear, it was a fantastic cover, and it ended up screencapped because I was curious how good the bandās original songs were.
This one was intriguing, donāt hear music like this much anymore these days.
Donāt hear too much melodeath anymore either these days, although thatās probably because iām not actively seeking it out as much as I used to. I really liked this one.
Think it might be the only icelandic synthwave I ever heard lol, that made it noteworthy but itās good too ofc.
Donāt hear good stoner metal that often, but when I hear it,
itās so good. Canāt really go wrong with merging a genre like doom metal with a genre like stoner rock ![]()
This oneās a bit funny, the radio channel was playing a song by Nick Cave which I was screenshotting (red right hand, pretty popular song; I knew the song but not by name which is why I screenshot it lol) and this song was next
wonder if they did it on purpose.
I donāt even remember how I stumbled upon this one, I believe this is called cyberpunkcore, itās basically just death metal with some cyberpunk~ish synth and electronic noises mixed in, absolutely beautiful, thereās an instrumental version too for people who donāt know how to appreciate metal vocalists. Absolutely blows my mind how good this is.
Iām not sure what this genre is called, itās got a lot of acoustic guitar, and some violins and cellos too i think, itās really unique and instrumental; though the band itself is a stoner rock band; this particular track is not that. The band has a vocalist but he doesnāt always sing.
Really strongly dig this one, need to get it offline on my phone for that air travel, this band is a lot like leprous and soen which are 2 of my favorite bands to get conked out to in-transit
these are called progressive metal, but prog metal can mean so many different things. btu those 3 all have very similar vibes! Agent Fresco would also fit in that pile if youāre into this like me. That one classes itself as progressive rock instead though. Interestingly the singer of Agent Fresco was hired for a relatively popular anime soundtrack (zankyou no terror).
Also not sure what to call this, itās very unique but as beautiful as the name implies. Reminds me a bit of Nest, which I suppose might make it dark folk
but they seem to self identify as experimental, that tracks.
Iām through about everything now, unfortunately like a good quarter of the songs I had tried to screenshot were lost to some stupid android incognito feature that makes any screenshots on incognito browser pages blank, absolutely ridiclous feature (what purpose would it even serve?
), Iāve turned it off but what a loss ![]()
