I moved from keepassxc to pass. It was bit of learning process because I really haven’t played around with gpg stuff, but it was really easy after all.

I use Android Passport Storage on Android and PassFF to my browser. I am not sure do I really need browser plugin at all since dmenu script is fast enough to parse what I need.

Why did you change to pass? Where is it better than keepassxc?

It is not more secure or better imo, I just wanted something more simple to deal with.

Thanks. I think for me keepassxc is simple enough.

Staying on the topic of security…

I’ve been loving this threat intelligence platform lately after moving off of another. Its beautiful and easy to use for some folks who don’t know what CTI is or want to get started. The connectors, feeds and enrichment are all easy enough to use and theres a lot to sink your teeth into once you get the hang of things. Its a major improvement to my side hustle. :sunglasses:

Honestly if you simply like reading about cyber security news you could just have ti collect threat analyst reports for some interesting observables and good reads

(plus anyone willing to contribute to TI sharing is a benefit to all us cyber guys)

GrapheneOS

Installed on a Pixel 7a with four commands and, after reconstituting my apps, it is great:

  • OS hardening (most obviously, if you install an application you are asked if it requires network access, something Google would never implement in a million years; also, for example, Bluetooth can be configured to switch off a fixed time after it was last used, the phone can be configured to reboot similarly, and MAC randomisation actually works )
  • Fast updates (February 2024 security updates 36 hours after they were released)
  • Intermediate updates (generally 2-3 functional updates per month in between the security updates)
  • Hardened apps, and not many apps built in so no fluff (Vanadium i.e. hardened Chromium, sandboxed PDF reader etc.)
  • Easy way of installing Google Play sandboxed (I have a couple of subscription applications which require it)

It feels strange to use a “Google phone” with only three Google applications (Google Services Framework, Google Play Services, Google Play Store) as the amount of crap this cuts out is almost beyond belief. The reduction in noise from Google apps’ pestering is colossal. If I didn’t require certain applications I would have no Google framework installed …

GrapheneOS has been running excellently on my Pixel 4a for years and to the same extent as yours. Unfortunately the Pixel 4a is in extended support status. I am looking for a Pixel 7a. If I find one for around €320, I’ll get it straight away. Until then, the 4a will have to do

Not sure if it still exists, as I don’t use YT directly anymore, but this is a feature YT Enhancer has plus so much more. It’s an extension though, and I’m not sure if you’re extension-averse. If not, maybe you should consider it.

Thanks for the suggestion,YT Enhancer page doesn’t work with FF uBlock Origin and NoScript. ytpics does. I don’t spend much time rifling pics off the internet… but when I do…
cheers

Pretty sad that I m just discovering this now. It s been on my system all this time.

A free and open source AI Image upscaler. It can be installed through every thinkable method, AppImage, Flatpak, Zip and more. I wasn’t a big fan of AI tools, but recently started playing with generating AI images for fun. And they are in small, so I needed another AI upscaler. Luckily we have a libre software for that. This really needs to be in the main repos. BTW its for offline usage.

I did this morning. Today I decided to check out all the apps in the applications menu I never seem to use. I m curious about the list of apps. Are they apps that are specific to EOS; maybe made by EOS devs, or just apps that are deemed important? When I think; eos apps, I imagine more apps than what s in this list.

I just remove upscayl from my system. The last yay update I did notified me that the program had an outdated package; can t remember which one…I verified it with pamac which showed the same.

All of the upscayl packages have been updated in the last few days :person_shrugging: was probably something temporary.
