Webbrowser for a Raspberry PI

I have a RaspberryPi 4 with LXQt Desktop. Runs ok so far. Now i need a lightweight webbrowser.

At the moment i run LibreWolf. Maybe this is overkill for this little board.

Do you have any recommendations for a small browser that doesn’t need that much resources?

I’m not sure about what the best browser for LXQt Desktop is, as I don’t use that, but I had the same question some time back, and ended up at:

And I gathered from that, that most browsers just ought to work (well).

BTW I’m using chromium on my pi (3b+) - works well enough for my use case.

Let us know your results.

Out of curiosity, are you running your RPi 4 on a micro SD or a USB SSD?

I will do. This one runs from an SD Card. Ok, could be also a bottleneck.

Just installed luakit. Minimalistic UI, run faster compared to LibreWolf. I like it so far.

Next step is to change the SD Card with an SSD

My recommendation is buy a NVME Gen 3 or Gen 4 from a reputable manufacturer like Samsung.

Then buy a ssk USB 3.2 to nvme enclosure

I have a RPi 5 and an Odroid N2 running off this enclosure and a NVME.

Pros
The enclosure will be faster than the RPi 4b USB 3 port, so you will be guaranteed the maximum speed from your RPi 4b USB port.

If some day down the road you have lost interest in the RPi 4b, you can salvage the NVME for future use. Future proof your purchase.

Today i plugged in an old SSD (Samsung EVO 830 i think). Works a bit faster. Will definitely upgrade to an NVME in the future. I have this enclosure lying around

The enclosure you have has the same specs as the one I listed. If you have a SSD EVO 830 in that enclosure, changing to a NVME setup wouldn’t be cost effective for the small or non-existing speed you would gain.

No. The Samsung SSD is a normal 2,5" SSD in a different enclosure. Sorry for the confusion.
