EndeavourOS relies heavily on community-hosted mirrors and SourceForge, which can be painfully slow or unreliable for many users, especially in Asia, Africa, and rural regions. A Google Drive ISO mirror would provide a faster, more stable alternative using Google’s high-availability infrastructure. It would allow resumable downloads, consistent speeds, and better accessibility regardless of geographic location. Adding this option would greatly improve the installation experience and help expand EOS adoption among users with limited bandwidth or poor mirror performance

Have you ever heard of Bittorrent ?
Just started the download of the latest '.iso , without actually needing it. And there are plenty of seeds, with an estimated total download time of 12 minutes. With 6% over progess after just 2 minutes.
Speeds would be even faster, but I only have a 50 Mbps internet plan.
Definitely no need for hosting the '.iso via google drive.
Additionally, where the heck does EndeavourOS rely on SourceForge ?!
Probably - Google is likely unhappy their data mining efforts are less successful with Linux users and so are trying to sucker more Linux users into using their data mining/spyware apps.
There is a reason that the torrent links are right at the top as the preferred method. It is much faster and a great way to download large files. No need for something like Google Drive.
can’t see the upside.
linux user: since 2017
number of times I heard someone say “let’s use google to bail us out” = 0 (zero)
The number of folks who would use a Google Drive iso is probably not much higher than 1.
I wouldn’t imagine this gaining any traction. I can tell you there’s a minimum 100% chance I wouldn’t EVER download something from someone’s Google Drive. . .
I like qbittorrent. . .
This would turn every user of it into a product. Hell no.
Alphabet infiltrators!
this is one of the worst feature requests I’ve heard. Hard to believe anyone wants to voluntarily download from Google Drive. Completely out of place in an open source project.
Okay, I am completely on Google’s leach; I use their browser, phone powered by their OS and even their cloud service which we are now discussing and even I think this is bad idea.
For such users, picking a rolling release distro is probably not the best choice.
Just took me about a minute to download the 2.92GB ISO using QBitTorrent with the magnet link.
While we’re on this topic;
Anyone who has a 24/7 online system (or close enough) like a server or VPS or NAS, please consider hosting EnOS ISO torrents for the benefit of distribution
My internet plan is to low too download from qbittorrent. 5MBS Plan*
I’m seeding @ ~20Mbps, if that’s not enough then send a stamped, self addressed envelope to lat=51.997181&long=-0.739299
These coordinates led me into a long rabbit hole about Bouvet island. Thanks
I was swimming at the time, target has moved
