Waybinder - A script for text expansion similar to autokey

waybinder is a simple text expander for wayland compositors. Similar to Autokey except that it reads text files from a ~/.config/waybinder directory. A bash script that uses zenity, wl-clipboard, wtype or ydotool to let you type abbreviations that expand to the contents of matching text files.

Operation looks something like this:

• Start writing an email or editing any document
• Place your cursor where you want your email signature to be pasted
• Type Meta+/ (or whatever keyboard shortcut you set up)
• A zenity window will appear asking for your abbreviation
• Type in sig and hit Enter (or select from the menu and click “OK”)
• Observe the contents of ~/.config/waybinder/signature pasted into the document

Some features:

• Original clipboard content is retained and restored.
• Hidden . files (dotfiles) are ignored.
• Dynamically generated text can be produced by .sh files in the configuration directory.
  (Example: ~/.config/waybinder/Today-YYYY-MM-DD.sh containing date +%Y-%m-%d)
