Watch ASCII Star Wars In Linux Terminal

ascii-star-wars

In the terminal:

telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

After the familiar credits, the Star Wars Episode IV will start playing in ASCII characters.

To stop the animation, press ctrl+] then type quit to come out of telnet command.

The whole “movie” is about 19 minutes long.

Oh my god. The 2000’s are calling and want their Ascii-Movie back. Ok… maybe 2005?
But it’s still pretty cool. :+1:

Just out of boredom, I tried it on a Win10 machine I’m working on for someone. It worked. Of course, I had to try to remember the M$ way of telnet…

If that wasn’t enough (I’m REALLY bored today) I opened it using cool-retro-term. The IBM3278 emulation brought back such memories.
