I have a mechanical drive for data. My system is configured to put the drive to sleep during system startup, which it does. My system boots to the login page. The drive is silent. Once I login the drive spins up.
I’ve run “fatrace --current-mount” within the drive mount folder before I login. I can see that “plasmashell” is the only process that accesses the data drive mount folder.
I have have tried disabling indexing, disabling “recent files”, deleting ~/.cache contents. None of those works to prevent the spin up.
Iotop shows nothing reading/writing to the drive post login that I can see.
I’m using a fully updated system. What might be causing the drive to spin up in “plasmashell”?
