Wahoo SYSTM - how do I get it to run?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been testing Fedora and EndeavourOS and managed to set them up in a way I’m mostly happy with. However, I’m still struggling with one issue: getting my Smart Bike training app, Wahoo SYSTM, to work.

I couldn’t get it to install via Lutris, but I managed to run it directly through Wine. Unfortunately, Bluetooth doesn’t work in this setup, even though I can pair the Smart Bike with the OS itself.

Does anyone have a solution for this, other than running Windows in a VM?

SYSTM is a relatively simple app: it streams videos and communicates with the Smart Bike via Bluetooth to send resistance, cadence, and power data. From an abstract perspective, it’s not that different from a fancy Bluetooth controller.

I also tried adding the app to Steam, but no luck there either. The app is available for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. I assume the Windows version is the only viable option here for desktop use.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Android app in Waydroid?

When running through WINE etc launch through the terminal, this is how I have managed to get some things to run by looking at the error etc and then searching for what may be needed. (hope this makes sense)

And the aur dont work?

Wouldn’t know I don’t use the app, was just going through different forums, reddit etc and this seemed the way most solved it

Ah yeah is good…i would try the aur stuf how they are

This is all a nightmare. After finally getting Waydroid to run with GAPPS, there is no internet connection within the app. After finally getting that to work, now the device isn’t google play certified. I did solve that with Onyx Boox readers, but the next thing I need to find out. Okay, got that fixed as well.

Take your time and take notes, once you figure it out it should be relatively simple to keep it up to date etc

Yep, just got SYSTM installed from the Play Store on Waydroid.
Also Waydroid asked to use BT immediately, but there seems to be no BT support.
I was looking into some forums and it seems like Waydroid does not support BT.

Check firewalld this case

Thanks, didn’t help. Moved Waydroid to trusted, but no chance to get BT working.

How about a Windows VM? I cannot get waydroid to run because I run a pi-hole docker image on port 53, have been going around in circles for hours and have now (officially) given up. It used to run.

Does the wahoo app from aur works?

The App on AUR is something different, it allows to control bike computers. SYSTM ist a training app, like Zwift, FulGaz, Rouvy and the likes.

Windows in a VM will probably be the only option, bjt then again, I can stay on Windows as a main OS aswell.

Would waydroid not give up?

Wow, looks a tad complicated. Will take some time to look into it, though

Waydroid is naturally in a container…Si yiu need to bind somewhere… it probably with some flatpak the same? But is useful look in to it… there is maybe better sources xd
