This started when I updated to 545.29.06 from 545.29.02. I’ve tried reinstalling the Nvidia drivers, but it’s not working. Maybe I missed one, so if anyone has a solution I’d greatly appreciate it.

Interestingly enough, this is not affecting my Steam games, which seems to be a common complaint when this happens. Currently this error shows up when I start Vivaldi or Steam, but both show no signs of any problems.
EDIT: just failed again, this time on a web app for Cockpit. Now I’m also getting this:
Nov 27 09:41:16 plasmashell[4613]: Warning: libnvidia-gpucomp.so.545.29.02: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Nov 27 09:41:16 plasmashell[4613]: Warning: loader_icd_scan: Failed loading library associated with ICD JSON libGLX_nvidia.so.0. Ignoring this JSON
This seems to be hit-and-miss as my other web apps that I frequently use - Python docs and Spotify, in particular - don’t throw these warnings. Also, when I start Vivaldi on its own, there’s no error message anymore.
I think that the downgrade helped, just not sure how much.
EDIT: spoke too soon again! This is from starting Steam:

Nov 27 09:46:32 plasmashell[18437]: Vulkan missing requested extension 'VK_KHR_xlib_surface'.

Nov 27 09:46:33 plasmashell[18440]: BInit - Unable to initialize Vulkan!
EDIT #2: after blowing away Steam and Nvidia drivers, I tried again - same failures, Steam now won’t even start. Vulkan absolutely sucks.
EDIT #3: went back to the v535 drivers - same effing problem.
One more update: clean install, still getting random Vulkan errors. When I run Baldur's Gate 3, I use the --vulkan switch to force Vulkan usage. It failed and ran DX11 instead.
What is weird is that all of my games - Steam, Steam/Proton, or other - are all working fine, so I don’t know if this is anything to worry about long-term. Guess I’d better ask Santa for an AMD GPU.
