Video Editing Question

see where all the people are identified by name? what software can I run that through to mask the name?
I usually use handbrake as my editor but I can’t find nothing like that in handbrake.

and it’s not really a meeting.
and it is an existing MP4 of me talking to someone I saved from Zoom. I want to share that with the person after it’s scrubbed of my name.

NUTSHELL:
I was giving this person in my extended family some life advice. I don’t necessarily trust this person in my extended family to not broadcast/share it via social media. MORE NUTSHELL: I’m not on social media. I’m happy with my face and my advice but would like to remove my name after the fact.

How do I do this? Thanks.

EDIT: It was sincere and would not want to waste time re-recording it. I know you can get rid of names in Zoom before-hand, but this is ‘after-hand’

Do you mean it would look like this? Or do you mean that the transparent box would still be there, but the name wouldn’t? If it’s the latter, I doubt there is any free software, maybe Davinci, that can do this. Otherwise, pretty much all video editors can do the former.

Simple editors: Shotcut, Flowblade, Openshot.
Advanced editors: Kdenlive, Davinci Resolve, Blender.

PS: Handbrake is not a video editor. It is a transcoder/encoder/converter.

I like your picture. Shocut would do that?

Yeah. But because it’s very simple, you’d have to use an image and stretch it to match the area. I think Openshot and Kdenlive actually have a tool to create a customizable black box.

+1 to shotcut. It’s a good editor for smaller things like that.

solved. wish I could give @rinwolf1312 a checkmark too for ‘co-solved’, but @anon93652015 thank you both all the same. That obliterated my name.

I see this has been solved, but I’ll offer an another simple solution for future references…

spectacle will let you copy video from screen and then edit simply with pixilation or obfuscation on specified areas and save edited version. Pretty straightforward as I recall.

I didn’t know Spectacle could do video, let alone editing. This is good to know

Frankly, until recently I didn’t realize this either. Then I started paying attention to those popup menu choices and noticed “screencasts” as a separate video folder for saving recordings.

I’ve never used it so I can’t vouch for its functionality, but nice to know it’s there.
