Oh! ok, normally I would go into the BIOS to change the default boot to the USB drive that I have plugged in to refrain the OS on the disk drive, SSD or M.2 to take control of the computer.
The USB is not showed on BIOS.
Did you find and setup boot order in BIOS? Pic?
If boot order is good, and BIOS still cannot see USB - sometimes USB will be too slow to turn on, when computer boots. Make sure to try different restart options, try different ports (USB3 vs USB2), try different USB, try delayed boot in bios which will show options or menus.
Ok, just went in town and while doing some other stuff, I did bring back a new USB drive (Lexar).
I’ll do the procedure myself and take some screenshots and some photos of the BIOS with the digital Sony and add value to the forum and your questions. This Laptop, the Lenovo e580, can only be done the same way as yours.
The other machines, are just normal writing of BIOS software like we are used too. Including the ASUS laptop X555Q.
So, on I go …
Ok, so that went well, it takes some time while the Linux workstation writes to the USB drive.
Lets find the BIOS file at Lenovo for the e580 … and put it on my other and smaller USB drive where I put the latest BIOS images.
Ok, seems to be version 1.49, an .exe file.
Ok, the r0puj37w.exe file is on the other green USB drive (older 2 GB).
Ok, With the sony camera, I took a picture that makes me choose to boot to the new Lexar 64 GB usb drive with the Herens image.
Ok, Here’s my first time booting Heren’s:
I’m going to insert in another available port the second USB drive with the file from Lenovo. (the green one you see )
Ok, Now we see our file we need to execute the exe
So, I guess you should be in good hands now. This Lenovo is Already at 1.49 so
no need for me to go further, but I’m pretty sure you have enough information to attain your objective.
Take care!
P.S. very special thank you at Mr. thefrog for the information.
