Using the new NTFS driver in kernel 7.1

I can confirm (just checked the other pc where I installed EOS today)

That’s what I wanted to check, as ntfs3 crashes on heavy I/O and fuseblk works but it’s way too slow.

I can’t say I have used it much, I have that one volume that I wanted Windows readable. I’m thinking of trashing/recreating it as it’s out of date now. Might be a way for me to give it a workout (on the new driver).

Please understand that the NTFS driver in the New Kernel is newer than the latest ISO so NTFS3 is still in use do to the fact that was the only trusted way to connect to NTFS. Since the Driver is now updated it will take a moment to change but shouldn’t be to long.

Yeah, due to it being newer, i was unsure about the proven stability (or lack).

if you’re using the new driver be careful not to do it with a partition with data you care about, you’re alpha testing this, the chances of something going wrong are very high.

On the plus side though, the new ntfsprogs that they made to accompany it have a CHKDSK alternative, which is kinda a big deal since it means theoreticlaly when things go wrong in such a way that it’s recoverable, you won’t have to boot into windows to recover anymore. In theory.
