Using chaotic-aur

I’m writing this post from arcolinux. Erik Dubois wrote that his personalized packages “arcolinux-something” will be kept alive sometime within chaotic-aur.

I think it’s a good idea. The transfer has not yet been done but should happen before the first of July official closure.

The installation of this repository went smoothly, using the information on their website. I just changed in the commands the word cdn by geo, because cdn does not work where I am.

Here an example. No opinion about it, I’ll report more later on.

 il n’y a rien à faire

Nothing to do. The warnings concern the inutility of using three chaotic-aur packages.

They are not available yet, but:

are in aur.

A nice way to look for them. Thanks.

On the other hand, these concerned packages are currently flagged as foreign by tools like cylon (auracle) or octopi or using yay -Syu. As long as they are, it means that the transfer did not take place.

I thought Erik was going to upload everything relabeled onto Nemesis_Repo. He even suggest placing Nemesis above Chaotic, both of which are above Arcolinux, which will vanish around July-ish.

curious—what would I find in chaotic that I wouldn’t find in regular AUR?

Nothing that I can think of; in fact the chaotic aur doesn’t have all the packages of the aur. What it does have are pre-built so they install faster.

pre-built binaries? so chaotic just offers a different format of package

Yeah, basically.

thanks for that info (I hear a lot about chaotic but never looked into it)
