Okay then … it should work now.
I mean, do I just try the installer again, the exe I just extracted from, or one of the files I just extracted?
There are quite a few .exe files that got extracted
Is the file an .exe in the folder you extracted?
I see 4
Feels like a deadly version of “pick the right door” for my laptop lol
Well FWUpdLcl.exe has the description of “Firmware Update Utility” so maybe it is that one?
Why do these people do this? If i had to take a guess i would say that WDFinst.exe stands for Windows Firmware Install? The other one FWUpdLcl.exe Looks like it would be FirmWare Update Licence. The other two could be the Intel Firmware but not sure on that. I’m just guessing. But i would say the WDFinst.exe would be the one to run. Make sure all the files are copied to the disc in a directory. Like i say I’m guessing.
Edit: I suppose it’s one or the other?
Edit: I may now be leaning towards the FWUpdLcl.exe
The file description given for that one is WDF Driver install application.
I’m going to cross reference the arch linux page again, I think it mentioned extracting files multiple times for Lenovo
Well the Arch Linux article only mentions one exe. It’s only in step three, after extracting another exe in step two does it mention multiple exes.
I’ve gone ahead and extracted all of them. They all look the same inside, and no more exes in them, just a CERTIFICATE, .text, .rsrc_1, .rdatq, and a .rsrc folder.
I really have to say this is so stupid. Why can’t these manufacturers do the same on all UEFI Bios. On all my motherboards i am able to flash the bios from within the UEFI settings screen without being booted into any OS.
Ok well not the exact same, but similar. Nothing which tips me off as to which one I should click though
The .rsrc folders in all of them, on the other hand, seem quite different
What’s the chance of something bad happening if I do click the wrong one?
Just hold on I think I’m getting to a closer answer maybe.
@anon26269396 what do you make of this situation?
Do you want me to tell you the structure of the .rsrc folders in each of them?
Look at this. I’m referring to the other file H2OFFT-W.exe
Maybe this is the one?
Watch it turn out you have to do all of them in a specific order for some reason lol
