Update errors

Good morning, I recently updated the system as I do every weekend and in the end I got this message.

error: unable to download package ‘core.db’ from it.mirrors.cicku.me : SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
error: unable to download package ‘extra.db’ from it.mirrors.cicku.me : SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
error: unable to download package ‘multilib.db’ from it.mirrors.cicku.me : SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
warning: too many errors from it.mirrors.cicku.me, ignoring the rest of the operation
How do I solve it thanks.

Then:

  1. update the arch key
  2. update the mirror list

Rerank your mirrors you can use the welcome app (under tab after install) to do this.

Normally pacman will go on and use other functioning mirrors so you don’t have to bother with the warning.

Also that mirror seems to have been down for maintenance. Perhaps it is not up and running yet.

The Dutch version of the mirror has been down (occasionally ?) for 4 to 5 days now , so this might be connected.

Point 3 seems possibly worrisome?

Like they modify the repositories? :grimacing:

Could it be that they serve other repositories as well? Besides the official repos. Like other third party repos? I don’t know.

Sounds to me like they host some unofficial mirrors of foss repositories. It could definitely be clearer though.

Thanks this worked. I re-ranked the mirrors. Guess have to do this now before each and every update.

Why have to? How often do you get this error?

I usually do this if I get the error but of course not every time I do an update.

I update infrequently. Weekly or fortnightly.

Till now I have gotten this error twice. Spread across a month or more. First time I ignored it, thinking it was something to do with my network or ISP. Second time I posted the query.

I have a second system running with EOS. There I also update only weekly but no need for me to re-ranking mirrors weekly. I also had this error from time to time and then I do it…
