These are wonderful, thanks so much! As and old guy, I especially love the floppy disks! I definitely remember installing Dos and Win 3.11 and some big programs from a stack of floppy disks; although by the time I got to my first Linux distro in the late 1990s it was on a CD from the back of a magazine.
You must have just missed it then - about 1997(?) I installed TAMU from a boxed set of HD(!) floppies. Luckily the install procedure was largely done with ncurses… but I had to find the settings (and vblank timings etc) for myself for the ATI video card to get Motif running!
For gnome users that like switching modes here’s the files and locations you’ll need to have a nice switching wallpaper:
ADD THE IMAGES TO THIS LOCATION:
usr/share/backgrounds/gnome
AND THE XML file Here:
usr/share/gnome-background-properties
