Understanding how startup apps can work

Hi all,

Not necessarily an issue but more of a trying to figure out how something is working. Discord is set to auto startup which it does perform successfully, but I wanted to know how its doing so. From what Ive read online so fair it sounds like it would be creating a .desktop file in the ~/.config/autostart directory but when I checked there was no file. So I’m not sure how it auto starting.

If anyone has a knowledge on this please share!

Just open that folder in Dolphin, you’ll need to click “show hidden files”.

I have Discord set to autostart…

It shows all my autostart apps just fine when I navigate to autostart in Dolphin.
Home > .config > autostart

Ah, turned out I was making a dumb. After looking and not seeing it using Dolphin, I poked around settings a bit more. Turned out I had the session restore on. (Edited it to turn it off now)

Thanks for the info amount using Dolphin to see hidden files, makes it easier to visualize than “ls -a”

Since non-native English speakers are here and may read this, the correct expression is,
“I was being dumb” or “I was making a dumb mistake” or even “I did something dumb”.

 :vulcan_salute:
