Unable to install chromium-dev

image

I keep on getting this error when trying to install chromium-dev.

So I did clear out the cache of yay so the would have deleted the clang-format.zip file for sure before attempting to reinstall it.

image

I am given these two options I chose one, failed and then deleted the cache and then I tried the 2nd option it still failed. is it just me or is this happening to others as well?

System is up to date?

Can’t copy text from pictures
from pic #1 terminal output “one o more files …”
Is it possible to insert the whole log/issue here? in </>
No pictures , please.

You have zip installed?
Or ask there
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chromium-dev
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/clang-format-all-git

I didn’t before but after installing it and clearing out the cache and trying to reinstall it, it still failed, thanks for the links though I will contact them and find out what happened

The sha256sum for the above file is probably wrong. You can:

  1. Wait for the maintainer to fix it
  2. Modify the PKGBUILD to include the updated checksum
  3. Tell yay to ignore checksums

Personally, I would recommend #1 or #2.

I tried to install it just for the fun of it. Look…what happened.

 clang-format.zip ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!
Failed to build chromium-dev

Try this:

  1. yay -G chromium-dev
  2. cd chromium-dev
  3. updpkgsums
  4. makepkg -si

Step 3 will update shaXXXsums.

Well it got half way … and it made the computer work hard. :slightly_smiling_face:

@unix_lover
I’d like to remind you that using upstream (Arch) packages is recommended over installing similar AUR packages.

AUR packages are not officially supported, and fairly often they have various problems, such as this one.

So, essentially, when you install a problematic AUR package, you take the AUR developer’s problems here instead of discussing the problem in the right place, the AUR package site.

The right place for this particular problem to discuss is here:

    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/chromium-dev

It would help us if you take the AUR issues to the place where they belong and are best handled there for everybody.

Cheers!
