UEFI Installation fails Bootloader install (Error 1)

LOG

I can’t figure this out, I have never had this issue before and was successfully running EndeavourOS but then I decided to install Linux Lite which lead to this problem. It has now carried over to EndeavourOS, I can install in Legacy mode but I would like to use UEFI if possible.

I am doing a full wipe on an AMD laptop.

Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Hello @piransu
So you want to wipe off the whole drive and install EndeavourOS? Can you post your hardware info by booting on the live ISO with internet and post the link for this command.

inxi -Faz --no-host | eos-sendlog

Edit: Also how did you create the live ISO?
Edit2: To install on UEFI you must have secure boot disabled in the UEFi Bios.

Yes, its a low end laptop I have laying around that I like using when not on my Desktop. I backup anything important so I don’t mind wiping it.

Here is the info

I used Etcher from my previous Linux Lite installation.

I have that disabled, I heard people talk about fastboot but I can’t find that option in my bios.

You should be able to just boot on the live ISO and use erase disc with swap file. Unless there is a problem with the live ISO. Have you tried the install only once? I don’t see any issue with the hardware other than it has radeon onboard graphics and radeon 8550 mobile. If you try again or if you have tried more than once and is failing i would suspect the live usb.

Something filled your EFI variables space. It’s probably due to kernel dump files which you can clear with:

sudo rm /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/dump-*

The other thing to check is whether you have obsolete boot variables:

efibootmgr -v

but this is less likely to be the issue.

That is exactly what I am doing and the OS installation goes fine only to stop at the grub installation.

I have only tried installing once. But I had the same issue with Linux Lite install which I tried to fix with at least 4 different attempts with the exact same error, only to give in and go for legacy install.

I was always confused by that, I thought they were one and the same. Is this a big issue?

What utility would you recommend other than etcher to ensure a problem free live USB? I tried the dd command as specified in the official installation guide but it will not load properly.

That sounds promising, I am trying an install after running this command. Will post an update once done.

Here is the output:

I cant tell if any of these are obsolete, I do see an extra CD/DVD drive and 2 UEFI boot variable for my live USB.

Yup that did the trick , thank you so much!
