@FLVAL
First we must discuss more general things. After that we can decide the details about translations.
Is not a problem of details, here is about structure, the way we doā¦It takes a decision from @Bryanpwo with it.
This isnāt up to me, in this case itās up to @manuel, since heās the one who develops this app, so whatever works for him, we follow him.
So @manuel, let me know if I create a Thread Welcome App Translate Progress on moderators or not ? So I can move all our messages thereā¦
Because here is about Bluetooth button on Welcome App !
I will wait your decision before to post the feedback from Welcome App Fr
To be honest, I have some mixed feelings about this.
To have translations is great in my mind.
But if we create translations to a set of languages, some users may wonder why we donāt have a translation for their language, and are not comfortable with it.
Github pull requests are probably the best technical way to provide translations, at least for now.
The (technical) challenges for this project are (as I see it):
- Maintaining translations requires lots of work and unfortunately I donāt have the spare time for it. So Iād like someone else doing the main job for it, basically maintaining all of the translation files. New changes from the Welcome app will come to English translation (=the reference) first.
- If we have two or more persons doing the same translation, then someone needs to decide which translation is the most up to date. And only the translators can know that, Iām no expert on every languageā¦
- Translator(s) should be prepared to make new translations whenever the English translation changes. Otherwise the benefit of having translations is diminished.
Fortunately the translation framework is implemented in a way that if some translations for a language are missing, it will fall back to English.
Hi @all!
If you need someone else for the german translation, i would be honored to help.
@manuel i can understand your point of view. But if there is someone who is feeling bad about a missing translation, can help this project by providing us with a matching Translation. Right?
Yep Translation stays always something more complex that it seems !
But you did already a really good work on the Welcome App for it. From my French test that Iām using now only few little bugs. I will give you details later on the right Thread when you will feel more comfortable on which way you want to take.

Totally agree with you, yes to maintain all the translation files, it asks not only one person who will never speak all lang ! At my opinion, we could ask first to our Translators who are the best choice for itā¦To make it simple :
- is not necessary to put a new Lang if no one could maintain it
- after the ask to our Translators, we could define which Langs to bring in the Welcome App
If we have two or more persons doing the same translation, then someone needs to decide which translation is the most up to date. And only the translators can know that, Iām no expert on every languageā¦
Exactly why I continue to believe that our Translators are the best persons for it, they master their own Lang and also why I asked to @Bryanpwo to take a decisionā¦Sure You couldnāt master all Lang, itās not to You to maintain these files.
Translator(s) should be prepared to make new translations whenever the English translation changes. Otherwise the benefit of having translations is diminished.
Totally agree with You, in fact did these steps proposal makes sense for you ?
- Create a Thread dedicated to Welcome App Translate Progress or whatever name you want
- Ask to our Translators who are able to maintain a Lang to establish a list of Lang
- Define who is the maintainer of a Lang, meaning he has the last word on his Translate Lang and so become the reference when You modified the Welcome App.
- Define a process to do, like you proposed Git which stays the best way
Fortunately the translation framework is implemented in a way that if some translations for a language are missing, it will fall back to English.
I saw it in my test and @FredBezies told it too in other Thread, which is the best idea.
You have to know is a great feeling to see the Welcome App in French, and I do believe it will be the same for a lot of Endeavourians, Thanks You for your incredible work.
Basically yes, that would be ideal, provided that the person wants to do that.
Sounds like a great plan! Now the big question is: who is willing to take the responsibility of making this really work?
If You want it a great Plan, would be necessary You take a decision with it as @Bryanpwo gives You the Full decision for it.
For sure, I will wait your decision that You are comfortable with, then with the Approbation of @Bryanpwo for the ask to Translators, I could organize the plan like you see up then see with time where it goes. You know step by stepā¦
