Trying to start with Docker

Hello, I have been using Endeavour for 3 months by now, I have it dual booting with Windows and I separated about 130GB for Endeavour from a total of 512GB (SSD), just to test the waters at first.

I’m enjoying the experience so far but I simply cannot give him more space and just not worry about what you’ll read next.

When reading the Docker documentation I stumbled upon the information that Docker Desktop would take about 112GB of my disk for its VM and that I could shrink that later, but, my questions are:

Will it respect what I have installed already to make its partition?

Will it shrink automatically to fit in the available space?

Or, should I try using Docker without the desktop app? (if it is possible)

I don’t know the desktop app. I have always installed it without the app.
See here for installation details.

On top of that i would recommend to install Portainer for easy container management.

So the desktop is really just a GUI alternative to the CLI? I can pretty much see what is running and not running through the terminal?

I’m not sure. Never tested the Desktop App.

Hm, ok. Thanks for your help.
