Tray icons after installation?

hello all. I’m not that familar with the Gnome Extensions and settings but I really prefer it over the other DE. I got a question: can I somehow enable tray icons in the system settings or do I need a gnome extension for it which I have to download? If that’s the case, which one would you recommend?

Not sure if this what you need but there is gnome-shell-extension-appindicator in the repos:

pacman -Ss gnome-shell-extension-appindicator
community/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator 41-1
    AppIndicator/KStatusNotifierItem support for GNOME Shell

One last question about this: What’s the difference using this and installing it via extensions.gnome.org?

Both are from the same source: https://github.com/ubuntu/gnome-shell-extension-appindicator

The difference is that someone has packaged it and made it available for Arch repos.

And also for installing form http://extensions.gnome.org/ you would need a browser extension and another package running on your system.

It is possible however to download an extension from http://extensions.gnome.org/ and install it manually but it takes a couple of extra steps to do so.
