Touchpad not working on Acer Nitro 5

The touchpad on the Nitro5 acer laptop with EndeavourOS installed has suddenly stopped moving the cursor or showing any immediate signs of movement on screen when tapped or attempting any other sort of command.

xinput provides the following output:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ELAN050A:01 04F3:3158 Mouse id=14 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ ELAN050A:01 04F3:3158 Touchpad id=15 [slave pointer (2)]

The touchpad on this laptop had never malfunctioned before and was working for a bit with endeavouros installed, but hasn’t shown any signs of recovery since it stopped working.

Welcome to the forum!

Could you show some info about your hardware:

inxi -Faz
pacman -Qs xf86-input

And which Desktop are you using?

Here is a list of laptops tested for Arch Linux.
Scroll down to the Nitro section.
It lists the results of multiple features and if they work or not.

If the touchpad is listed as working, then you probably have a legitimate problem.
If the touchpad is listed as not working, hopefully someone has a work around.

Pudge

Have you tried the kernel parameter in the default grub command line and then update grub?

Edit: Is the Touchpad not being recognized or just not working?

I’m using xfce4 and since the your comment appears to request pacman -Qs xf86's output:
local/xf86-input-libinput 1.2.0-2 (xorg-drivers)
Generic input driver for the X.Org server based on libinput

Things to check

Fn +F7 turns touchpad on and off. Have you checked that you didn’t accidentally turn it off somehow.

Edit: Touchpad is Configured from the Mouse and Touchpad submenu in xfce4-settings

That pain of that realization was surreal
