The Blue Screen of Death is dead

… long live The Green Screen of Death

I wonder if systemd will now change color of its SOD too

The author got that wrong. The dev/testing builds had a green screen for years, the release versions have a blue screen - that isn’t changing. What will change is the content on the screen.

Bah…it should be PSOD (pointless screen of death).

I think it should be like this.

He says:

It is likely that Microsoft will roll out the change to all Windows 11 users later this year as part of Windows 11, version 25H2.

Likely? I’ve got a Win11 VM. I try to “kill” it later this year to see Window’s new dreaded color of death

But you seem to be right, the change of the color seem to be “a reminder”:

As a reminder, for Windows Insiders this appears as a “green screen”.

When the public testing program was rolled out - I think ten years ago - a lot of tech enthusiast were using it (“getting new features earlier” etc). But when something crashed they complained on the normal channels. So MS introduced the green screen to show it to the user and everybody else: Hey, this is a test build.

There already was a time when Microsoft’s Screen of Death had a different colour (black). I don’t think it lasted long.

Since it’s a “Green Screen”…will you be able to show whatever you want on it???

I vote for a picture of the Windows logo going down in flames…

OK–I fixed it…

Was this message not on the commodore amiga ?

"Microsoft says that it decided to create a streamlined user interface for unexpected restart errors that "better aligns with Windows 11 design principles and supports our goal of getting users back into productivity as fast as possible…

…[wait for it]…

It is unclear why this screen gets users faster back to productivity as the previous one, as Microsoft does not offer an explanation."

Yeah, correct, it’s from the Amiga.

All you need to know? I don’t even care to know anything about Windows , and haven’t much for over 16 years already, accept for seeing screen shots here and there and it looked like an indoctrination machine to me!

I heard people spend days on end uninstalling stuff, removing annoyances, hacking the registry… and trying to thwart the data collection and being fed adds… anything and everything they can to get it at least a little bit like an acceptable OS, and then lose it all on the next update! No freaking thanks; been there done that when it was nowhere near as bad as it is now, and even worse: is about to become with Windows 11!

Maybe a rainbow colored, or sunrise photo screen of life for a change?
