Decided to report this over at KDE, clearly stating that I’m on QT6.7:
FWIW, I am on “testing” and “kde-unstable” and the copy system info does work for me (I can see it in the clipboard).
Thank you!
Will look into it.
Do not know what to say, it’s working here. I’m afraid to reboot now, my system may go for a chit.
We are living on the edge, aren’t we?
I’m testing Plasma 6 RC1 right now. I’m having some problems. The biggest problem I’m having is that the logout, shutdown, and restart buttons aren’t working. The other problems are minor, but annoying. In Dolphin, I can’t permanently disable the Information, Folders, and Terminal panels. When I disable them in the Show Panels settings, they just reappear when I close and reopen Dolphin. The same thing happens with Quick Commands and SSH Manager panels in Konsole. Anyone else having these issues?
I am on RC1 and also the testing repositories (so Qt 6.7). I also have the problem that the logout, shutdown and restart buttons are not working from the application launcher. On the System Settings → Shortcuts → Power Settings tab I set up a short cut of Cntl + Alt + o to shutdown. When I use that shortcut it brings me to the correct power-off screen (with the 30 second timer). It’s as if the Application Launcher buttons just are not linked correctly to that shut-down screen. I don’ have your Dolphin issues, but on Konsole, it does not save my election under Plugins to not show the SSH Manager and Quick Commands panels. So they show up every time I start Konsole.
Thanks for verifying this. For Dolphin, I have the “Show on Startup” option set to my home folder. If I leave it on “Folders, tabs, and windows state from the last time,” after disabling the panels, they stay disabled. However, the moment I switch back to my home folder on “Show on Startup,” the panels reappear. I also appreciate the tip for bringing up the correct logout menu.
Edit: The shortcut for logout/power off doesn’t work.
That’s about the right feeling - but then with less hair in my case (in this point in time).
This behaviour is also reported as bug for Konsole, I believe:
Exactly so, but I expect the login/shutdown/etc are widgets…so I’m not surprised. But yes, I have all the issues you describe.
I’m wondering if I can run two instances of EndeavourOS/Arch on the same laptop? I’m running Windows 11/EndeavourOS KDE Plasma 5.27/Fedora Rawhide Plasma 6.0 Beta on my Surface Pro 8 now. I installed EndeavourOS KDE Plasma 6.0 RC1 on my older (potato) laptop. I would like to replace the Fedora Plasma 6.0 build with EndeavourOS Plasma 6.0 for testing, but I don’t want to mess up my daily EndeavourOS Plasma 5.27 install.
If these are all on bare metal on one computer, I would think about using a VM unless you have a HDD bay rack with 4 or 5 slots.
My laptop had 2 partitions: one with Manjaro, one with EndeavorOS 5.
I installed EOS on the partition that contained Manjaro, removing Manjaro. I upgraded that EOS to plasma 6.
So, I now have one laptop with EOS Plasma 5 and EOS Plasma 6.
Works without a problem in my case.
Your situation seems a bit more complicated, though.
Reported the “copy details”-button, in “About System” not working:
My Surface Pro 8 has a triple boot system now; Windows 11, EOS Plasma 5.27, and EOS Plasma 6.0 RC1. The setup was easier than I thought. After installing the second EOS build (Plasma 6) on a spare partition, the first EOS build’s (Plasma 5) GRUB entry was erased by the installer. The only thing I had to do was install grub-customizer, then change one of the Plasma 6 GRUB entries to point to the UUID of the Plasma 5 partition. The grub-customizer application also allowed me to rename the entires EndeavourOS - Main and EndeavourOS - Teating. It also helps that both builds use the same kernel names.
I’m having an issue where the “Get New …” buttons in System Settings are not working at all. Is anyone else having this issue? Also, has anyone found a solution to the top have of System Settings pages being cut off?
Yes, “Get New” also does nothing on my System Settings panels (I’m on testing and kde-unstable repositories).
Thanks! I also notice that the desktop cube stopped working… growing pains!
