TDF ejects its core developers..!?

This is quite possibly the most bizarre news I’ve heard for months regarding TDF and LibreOffice..

https://www.collaboraonline.com/blog/tdf-ejects-its-core-developers/

I can’t understand why they’d stand on their own feet by doing this? Reading through the multitude of links Michael Meeks posted, holy politics Batman! Just a messy situation. Here’s hoping that there’s a way forwards. The one thing we genuinely need more cohesion on is the classical “Office Suite”

It’s 1 april…and not a joke :sweat_smile::joy:

Yep, I thought “ohhhh, this is an April Fools joke..!” then my heart just sank.

My thought was ‘this can’t be good’.

Sad sure…but to be honest I never liked LibreOffice(OnlyOffice is much better) but still, it’s sad this dumb stuff happens in Open source.

Well then again that what’s happening when you invite a bunch of “does” people in Open Source.

The latest statement from The Document Foundation adding to their assertion that their non-profit status was at risk:

Not a lawyer, so not going to comment further.

Euro-Office popped up on my radar today, as a fork of OnlyOffice that’s currently in the works, although pending some legal wrangling with OnlyOffice.

It seeks to make development and contribution more open and transparent, as the European answer to Microsoft Office going forward.

Yeah I heard about it maby in future it can be an good alternative?!

The Document Foundation has published a Q&A in response to media articles and forum comments about the dispute:

This one is easier to follow than the previous statement that I posted above.

Most of their work is irrelevant, anyway.

Scientific writing is done with \LaTeX and spreadsheets are done in MS Excel or Google Spreadsheets. As everybody knows, presentations are cognitively lame. The only office application left is draw. Never used.
