I really didn’t think it’d make it THIS year.

Good news, although personally I am very happy with KDE. We will follow it closely

Same here. But I do have a laptop I’d be willing to use once it’s released.

Nice, very nice. Salivating over anticipation.

Maybe we see it on EOS?

That’s my hope. If so, I’ll put it on my laptop.

Well, if it’s built for Arch we will. Not that I’ll switch from Plasma in any case. Whether it will be in the installer is a different matter.

This is what i meant. Having it on the installer! But not up to me. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s been available for Arch since almost day 1  And it coexists nicely with Plasma (in my experience).

Yes but once it’s complete and not a beta anymore changes things a bit. So i would think it would be nice to have it on the install process.

Is this what is going to make 2025 The Year of Linux Desktop?
Or that would be next year?

Nope EOS is going to be the Year of The Linux Desktop. Soon!!!

Should be simple enough, it’s well-defined and pulls in it’s dependencies (as it exists now). I’ve installed it on several Arch-based distros (including Cachy, plain Arch, and EOS) and had no difficulties with installation/usage.

I’m really hopeful for this project in the long term, but in the short term I can’t see myself using it. I think it still needs work. Just as an example, I didn’t like this architecturally, and I couldn’t find any further work on it after this work (If someone knows of any later related work, please do point me to it as I was keeping an eye on these issues).

Also let’s wait until it actually gets released to get excited, cause they missed their Beta projected release date by 2 Quarters already (

).

But I’m super appreciative of the vision and really wish them immense success in the future!! :rocket:

it’s the official release so most kinks must be worked out. Will try it in 6 months if the buzz is still there.

Good for system76.

I personally cannot afford their products but I like looking at them. Real wood kicks ass.

I checked cosmic one week ago and it froze when i launched world of warcraft. Also system keybinds are wanky. December feels a bit rushed

More buzz more feeeback is up or down…mather of dev. Most bugs should be out atleast
