System micro freezes unresponsive during updates

I find my system suffers from stutters and micro freezes during updates. I set an update running on the terminal. Then go back to my web browser. I find that when packages are being installed by browser freezes and stutters. It will last few seconds then unfreeze and catch up with whatever key presses I made.

Is there a way to have a freeze free update process that doesn’t interrupt the user desktop experience on other apps? Perhaps lowering yay/pacman/flatpak process priority?

With no logs all we can do is guess.

personally when updating the system I don’t have other programs running. Programs can’t always update Live many need a reboot in order to fully engage in the update.

After I run yay, I inspect to see in my browser is one of the updates before I hit enter. If it isn’t, I keep it open and go about my business. And each time I update, it usually takes less than 30 seconds, unless there’s a kernel update ore major KDE Plasma update.
