I get an error trying to remove it with that command
Check if itâs even installed.
pacman -Qi xf86-video-intel
Not installed.
Says "error: package 'xf86-video-intel' was not found"
Looks like it is using kernel module as the Intel driver isnât installed. I went back and looked at the output for the hardware and that is what it shows. I must have missed that. I see the Bios is fully updated also. You reported itâs happening after entering the encryption key. You are using grub boot not systemd-boot.
I remember using the first option during install, which I thought said âsystemd-bootâ. Whatever the default option is at the top of the options prompt during install is what I use, I donât change it.
It happened again today, two updates ago, which was a big update. Once the update completed, I did a âsudo rebootâ, and as the computer booted up it skipped the âchoose your kernelâ screen and went right to âenter your encryption key passwordâ. Thatâs how I know if itâs going to happen is if it skips that kernel selection. At that point I have two options, if I enter the encryption password it will freeze right after entering it and force me to do a hard power reset. If I instead press CTRL+ALT+DEL it will reboot again and this time it will ask me which kernel I want to choose, and it will not freeze this time when entering the encryption password. This is the pattern Iâve taken note of over a dozen times now.
If itâs systemd-boot then try
sudo reinstall-kernels
The command responded with a lot of lines and I suppose reinstalled the kernels. I guess Iâll report back after a few days of updating to see if it did anything.
Did you try rebooting after?
Yes I did. It was a normal reboot. Hard to say if that fixed it though because itâs a 50% of the time issue. Iâll monitor it for the next week and report back when and if it happens.
It just happened again right now. Updated, rebooted and the âchoose your kernelâ prompt auto skipped.
