I was following the YouTube tut from Chris Titus Tech for customizing ZSH. I have everything working, except syntax highlighting. I have the dependancies installed per his tut, but there is no highlight on commands.
I should mention I am still using the default terminal but did switch to zsh. I also am not in front of my system atm, so I could gather any tips and try them early tomorrow morning. Thank you I’m advance for the help.
Try adding this to your .zshrc
source /usr/share/zsh/plugins/zsh-syntax-highlighting/zsh-syntax-highlighting.zsh
In addition to what @dalto said, read this, if you want to customise the colours:
I tried adding that line to my .zshrc, but I was given an error - likely interfering with powerlevel10k?
perhaps?

And now its completely broken. My prompt now shows this error:
/home/jerry/.zshrc:21: parse error near `\n’
It looks like it is failing to find the file. Is the full path to the file correct? Is it installed?
Make sure you didn’t inadvertently copy/paste in some whitespace from the forum.
If you’re following someone’s tutorial then asking them about the tutorial might be something to consider.
Alternatively, you could check the Arch wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Zsh#Fish-like_syntax_highlighting_and_autosuggestions. This tends to have a lot of information about configuring and tweaking your system, with the added bonus that it’s easy for someone to read when you ask for help.
Helping without sufficient context will always end up with miscommunication or details being missed.
