Syncthing for Android is being discontinued

Another day, another good app dies.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I literally use this thing for daily syncing. And that alternative is similar to Firefox forks as far as I see. No Firefox means no forks.

This project is a lot smaller and has way less moving parts, so I could be wrong.
I HOPE I AM WRONG! :weary:

Not explicitly stated but it does seem that it’ll keep running independently of the upstream project.
The github page has a section specifically for people switching over.

That’s promising. Thanks. Will certainly look into it.

I loved it. As described here, the conversion should be quite easy. Create a backup in the old syncthing and then import it back into syncthing-fork

Installed syncthing-fork via Obtanium, imported backup files. Works on my side

I’ll wait a bit. No real rush.

Well, I managed to install Syncthing-Fork from Google Play Store just before it was pulled from there.
Probably in vain, since it won’t receive updates through that channel.

I’ve been using Syncthing-Fork from F-Droid for a long time. No issues.

Syncthing for Android fell out of the Google Play store a while ago.

This is a setback for my sneakernet moving files between devices.

Same here, works as before

Me too, I have been using Syncthing-Fork from F-Droid for years now. Originally I chose it because they had added extra features and fixes the “regular” version doesn’t have.
