" This new law requires all public bodies to disclose the source code of software developed by or for them unless third-party rights or security concerns prevent it. This “public money, public code” approach aims to enhance government operations’ transparency, security, and efficiency. "
PS.
Even though Switzerland has very close ties to EU, it is not a member state.
It’s about time someone figured this concept out. I’m tired of the United States government funding private companies. If tax payer money is used for software or infrastructure. Then the software and infrastructure should belong to the public.
Is it just OSS or FOSS? Can our goverment fork their repos so we have something functional for once?
Can any Swiss citizen create a pull request or submit a bug report? Otherwise OSS is kind of pointless there.
I wish them well. I hope it will not lead to loss of software suppliers or unreasonable price increase.
