SWAY - using qt based Dolphin, Konsole, & Kate

I currently use Plasma for my Github work, but I like to have a backup just in case.
So, I have been experimenting with Sway and Dolphin, konsole, & kate. A dark theme is also a must have.

Using qt6ct I have successfully got konsole and kate working with Sway with a dark theme. Dolphin is the sticky wicket, this is the closest I have come so far.

Has anyone gotten Dolphin with a dark mode working on Sway?

Well I have absolutely no knowledge of sway, so no idea if this would work with kvantum.

Hyprland, qt6ct - this works for me:

With Sway, this is what I get which differs from your Hyprland settings:

Under Appearance Style: the only choices are Fusion or Windows Breeze does not appear as in Hyperland.

Under Appearance Standard dialogs: only

Default
GTK3
XDG desktop portal

appear. No KDE option appears. This is probably part of the problem but I haven’t figured out how to change it.

@keescase Not sure about kvantum’s future, but I may have to look into kvantum.

Thank you both for your replies.

I started from a plasma base, may explain why I have the option.

I typically use Kvantum for theming Qt apps on Sway, it seems to be reasonably consistent and has some decent themes. Make sure to set QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=kvantum somewhere in the user environment, then all you need to do is set a theme in Kvantum Manager.

I installed thunar-vcs-plugin to enable git support in Thunar. I like Dophins Git solution is a better implemented solution so I still want Dolphin.

Thanks, I will give Kvantum a shot.

This is what I do also in sway https://www.lorenzobettini.it/2024/08/better-kde-theming-and-styling-in-hyprland/

I have abandoned Sway with dolphin, konsole, and kate.
I experimented with Cinnamon, and achieved the desired results with little hassle.

Not what I hoped for, but if necessary this will provide a backup to Plasma for getting my EnOS work done.

I personally don’t use KDE apps outside KDE because theming is pain, but I think that qt6ct-kde is tool what you need. It is just patched qt6ct to fix theming issues KDE apps.

edit: whoopsie, lorebett already has answer..
