Recently I have the issue that my timeout option for systemd-boot menu stopped working. This and other related issues (menu not showig up, default boot entry ignored) seems to happen when values of loader.conf are overwritten or simply ignored for some strange reason. It is reported in other forums too:

There’s an easy solution/workaround and one could argue that for many users the following method is even “better” than editing loader.conf because it’s faster, easier and more reliable?
This could be added to the wiki:
Hotkeys in systemd-boot menu:
t/T or +/- : increase/decrease the timeout
d : make selected entry the default (little arrow appears)
h : show help screen
Right now you can find this info in the wiki only by following a link (“more information”).
