Suggestion about including Timeshift in Live ISO

Thanks for your answer Rick
Then what does a package like Oculus do in the CD in place of Timeshift?

Have a better purpose maybe?

I merely shared my own observation, Sir
don’t come at me with lectures here!

Thank you for the suggestion.
We technically can add Timeshift as an option in Calamares, but then it will be installed and behave as the app is designed out of the box.

From what I understand from your request, it is to have the option to be installed and then immediately pop up after installation to enable the app. This requires a lot of tinkering from our side to make it do that in every DE and WM we offer. This feature will also be very vulnerable to breaking after a major upstream DE/WM update.
We simply don’t have the manpower and knowledge to create and maintain this.

As a middle-ground solution, I can discuss with the dev team to include Timeshift on either Calamares as an option or on the “Add application” list within Welcome.

It wasn’t lecturing you, Señor
I merely shared some facts about the software here!

Sounds like to me you want a Silver Platter distro. We are a Minimal Distro allowing Users to choose for themselves which programs they want to install. We give you a plate and allow you to put what you want on it. That is all we strive to be. We are not a noob distro however that doesn’t mean that noobs can’t use and enjoy EndeavourOS.

This seems a sensible & useful solution :+1:

No no, I do not need it. It ws my suggestion for the next CD and next generation EOS-noobs

Yes but, I don’t feel it’s really necessary because a noob wants it. It’s so easy to just install it and enable the service. I feel it would be better to just include instructions in the wiki for those wanting timeshift or btrfs with snapshots.

Okay, but then my explanation still stands. We can add it but not let it pop up after install.

no that is not what I was saying at all.

As the suggestion is under consideration by the development team, this topic can be closed now, before it deteriorates any further :down_arrow:

Let me put it in another way

What do you will suggest to noob (comming from windoll) as a some quick backup option?

Please be short, peruasive and NO links to arch-wikies enzo.
