Sudden no bootable device

Hello.

Today my system does not boot at all:

  • Grub doesn’t start,
  • BIOS/UEFI does not detect any disk, except the USB drive when I plug it.
  • From the userlive, I tried lsblk but same story, nothing appear.

I can’t really tell if the current issue results from an update or not: I updated EOS yesterday for sure (as almost everyday), and also I think (but I have a doubt) that I some point I rebooted, without any issue.

I’m using a Lenovo Yoga C930 with only EndeavourOS installed. I use Grub and two kernels: LTS and the latest.

Thanks for your help.

That is almost definitely a hardware issue.

Probably the drive failed.

All of a sudden?! Well, I guess that’s possible, but still, I find this strange. I mean, I haven’t moved my laptop since then and it was working quite normal until today.

Is there a way to know that for sure? For example a software that allows us to detect the health of some hardware piece, something like that?

Thanks.

That is pretty normal for an SSD. They go from working to failed. Most often, the controller fails.

Is the drive removable? If so, you can connect it to another machine or a USB dock.

Thanks for the answer.

No idea. I will have a look on it, and try this if it is possible.
