I turned on my computer after a long time and updated various repositories and the kernel. After rebooting, I found that I was stuck on the login screen.
When I enter my password and press Enter, it freezes and doesn’t proceed to the next screen. (The same issue occurs if I just press Enter without entering a password.)
I tried a few things from the command line with Ctrl + F5, but the issue remains the same. Is there a solution to this?

Ahh, I ran into this today but after I’d logged in the main screen was black. I turned on the other monitor then CTRL + ALT + F3 to bring up a console and shutdown -r now. I signed back in again using the main screen without a problem the second time.
I’m using two monitors, Monitor 1 and Monitor 2.
I can only log in using one of the monitors;
it seems there was an issue where the other monitor would freeze with the main content.
I had the secondary monitor turned off, but after turning it back on, the problem was resolved. Thank you!
