Strange graphic error with Chromium (amdgpu)

I guess Brave is behaving then.

I guess so - is this confined to Chromium? Chrome? Vivaldi? unGoogled Chromium? Edge? () Others?

I just have Chromium and i didn’t think it was doing this until i started to use it a bit and low and behold it was.

Yes, it works. But what does that tell us? Chromium @#$#!@!@ programmed? Error in the graphics driver amdgpu? Turning off hardware acceleration can only be a temporary workaround. But thanks for your help!

Sorry, I have not tried that yet. I do not like dark themes.
Btw, it does not affect the UI of Chromium, the error is in the website content.

I’m now on Kernel: 5.8.5-arch1-1 & after turning off hardware acceleration its not doing it anymore.

I’m on the same kernel now and yes, yes, it is still there …

Hmm… it worked on mine. Do you also have Amdgpu?

yes, amdgpu here.

Ok, without hardware acceleration it is ok, but then the scrolling is terrible.

Yes, Both AMD GPU & CPU

I also have Ryxzen 3800X with AMD RX590 and running xfce. With hardware acceleration off it is okay but i also have v-blank off if that matters on XFCE.

xfconf-query -c xfwm4 -p /general/vblank_mode -t string -s "MODE" --create

Change “MODE” to “off”
Then log out and back in.

Edit: Scrolling is no problem for me.

I use Firefox 99.99% of the time.

Me too!!! I have no issues with Firefox. I just have Chromium as a back up.

Same here, i just used Chromium to watch cable tv with hardware acceleration off and had 0 issues.

It seems to me this problem has existed before way back but i had forgotten about it as i don’t tend to use Chromium much and i keep reinstalling a lot so i forget to change my settings.

So I do, till this problem with Chromium is fixed. Then we will see (how Mozilla continues to behave)
But it is still a fact: many things work better in Chromium than in the Fox. Ok, until the last one at Mozilla turns off the light. But I like this troop less and less …

That’s right, I have been observing this for some time. But it hasn’t been so massive until now.

I don’t know! I have been a faithful Firefox user for many many years. I have no issue with Firefox. I use a couple of extensions with it for music files and i like it. It’s easy to use and set up.

I don’t think we will be able to solve the problem completely here. For the time being, I consider the issue closed. The only current solution is to turn off hardware acceleration. Let’s keep it that way! Have a nice weekend to you all!

Addendum: I just tested it on Manjaro - no graphic hype with chromium, everything as it should be. Draw your conclusions, I don’t know anything about programming …
