Afternoon all, long term lurker first time poster.
I have moved back to Linux after a break using windows and I am reasonably confident but there is one issue that I cannot resolve currently which I am hoping for some help with.
I have a three drive set up first drive for / second for /home and a third drive mounted at /mnt for game strorage.
I thought I had everything set up great until my son wanted to play games using his login.
If I login as me, I can’t change the default location for saved games but can when installing, so for example I installed COH3 to my games drive.
The issue arises that he logs into his EndeavourOS login and then my steam account and any game he wants to play is downloading again to the default /home location.
So any games that we both play are installed twice.
So in summary I have two EndeavourOS users using one Steam login and I want the games saved to their own drive accessible by both users. Does that make sense and is it possible? If so how?
So I have a partial fix. I have given my son access to the shared drive however Steam is still not happy with two users using the shared drive. If one user installs games it causes problems in that the other users cannot install games.
The “solution” I stumbled upon, I reformated and set up the shared drive and I noticed that if I install a game in the shared drive my son can access it. So as long as I install the games we both have access, I just need to ensure that he does not attempt to install games using his log in.
