Steam crashes with X error

After all the problems I had with the nVidia 495-46 drivers and using downgrade to install the 495-44 drivers, Steam will not start, returning this:

nstalling breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(1638464786)
SteamUpdateUI: An X Error occurred
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)

All of the 32-bit nVidia libraries are installed:

pacman -Q | grep nvidia

nvidia-cg-toolkit 3.1-6
nvidia-dkms 495.44-6

opencl-nvidia 495.44-6

I’ve been Googling for two days. Does anybody have any idea?

One possible problem is that you seem to have (2) different versions of some of the libraries:
lib32-nvidia-utils (495.46-1)
lib32-opencl-nvidia (495.44-1)

I don’t have the opencl libraries installed, so I can’t test this.

Right you are. Downgrading now.

And it worked! Steam is loading now.
