Steam broken?

Steam seems to be broken. What can the (german) output mean?

How did you install steam ? i just checked 2 notebooks of mine for you and both are running steam just fine.

I have installed steam-native on my laptop. It worked just fine until yesterday. I guess that an update does not work properly but I don’t have the knowledge to find the mistake.

Do you think that reinstalling might help? (perhaps a complete delete and then new installation)

Steam-native was dropped from the official Arch repos to the AUR a while ago. Maybe remove it and give the Arch package a try.

Both packages are being installed anyway. I have tried starting both. Both end in the memory error.

Did the following:
sudo pacman -Rns steam-native-runtime

After that reboot and then:

sudo pacman -S steam

The error stays the same after starting Steam.

The lines 962-966 in steam.sh are:

I don’t really understand what this should mean but the last line is mentioned in the error message that I have cited.

Checking the file here, that seems like a last ditch effort fallback, but I don’t have the energy to work through steam.sh to figure out what’s happening.

Overall steam isn’t broken, so it’s a local problem. So my first stop would be https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Steam/Troubleshooting e.g. give steam --reset a try.

It seems like there is a version mismatch. I guess that I need to be patient.

Alas I have zero Nvidia experience, if there’s a current issue someone else has to chime in. But generally yes, sometimes the multilib version is a few minutes behind.

I have the same mismatch here and steams working fine. I think it’s a red herring.
