Stability of the Plasma version?

Used Plasma on M and using it here. It is much more stable in Endeavour Os than I’ve seen KDE implemented on any distro I know of (obviously havent tried Arch proper)

You need to change the layout to Desktop from Folder in desktop settings . But then nothing in the Desktop folder will be visible . So either a folder or a desktop

The only bug I have is in Dolphin , when I set it to show full path of folders it doesn’t

I second 100% what @Alexander wrote, even if is it based on a subjective feeling (not on a benchmark or numbers). I am not yet 2 months with EnOS, but my Plasma “feels” snappier, quicker and more stable than in Manjaro. No break experience yet, even minor. (And +1 for @Kresimir advice to disable baloo)

Curious, it works for me, i.e. scrolling desktops/workspace using the mouse wheel.
I’m a long time KDE user. From when I started using Antergos and then EndeavourOS I also use KDE on the now ancient i3 laptop with 4GB ram, works well. Before that I used lxde on the laptop.
I do not do “heavyweight” tasks on the laptop so may not be indicative, the fan only goes hypersonic when chrome casting videos (sometimes) or installing/updating AUR packages.

If you want something very reliable, and still really great to look at but you don’t mind giving up some customization. I generally recommend Cinnamon. I run Arch Cinnamon and I swear I don’t think I’ve EVER had an issue with anything. It’s by far the most stable DE I’ve used.

Even over Xfce?

Yes. Even more than XFCE. I say that because I feel I had better support for things like dual monitors and and I feel that if I am looking for a setting, it’s more intuitive to me.

If we are specifically talking about plasma itself, I think it is less “stable” on Arch/EOS than Manjaro. Ultimately, it is the exact same packages on Manjaro and EOS. The difference is that when a big kde release happens, Manjaro holds it back from stable until the key point releases happen. Arch lets it flow for the most part which means right after a new release there are likely to be issues.

Personally, I like many of the changes they are making to plasma. That being said, there will always be ongoing changes so if you want something that stays more familiar you might want to use something else.

That wasn’t a bug , I set it temporarily . For permanent change I had to do it in preferences :grimacing:

So Yes

Plasma is 101% Stable

if you find anything buggy , it must be a feature you are unaware of
