Spectacle bug on saved files name?

Hey all! To all compatriots using KDE, IF you use Spectacle (I personally think it’s great for a basic use which is my use case), could you corroborate if sequential numbers and window title when saving screenshots work as “intended”, which what I understand from it is that currently on Plasma 6.3.5 if you put title and # (with date and time) between <> symbols, it should name the file something like:

Brave-1 may-15-2025-16-47-50.png

Perhaps title doesn’t work the way I understand it and it’s different. However, if I understand correctly, # should be replace when naming the file with the sequential number of the screenshot taken?
Took some screenshots to try it out again for this post, currently it looks like this:

As you can see there is no “Window name” and both screenshots (including this one which is for the example, meaning the 3rd screenshot) start with “1” instead of being 1, 2, 3, etc.
After changing the naming scheme to something more “default”, it looks like this:

Is there any special way to put the configuration so it works? Perhaps ‘title’ and ‘#’ should be at the end of it before .png for it to work accordingly or is this a bug? If so, I’ll create an account on bug report KDE and submit the bug report, but I wanted to be sure first that it isn’t just me being stupid. Thank you in advance!

<title> works here. <#> works here too, but you have to have a name collision. So if there isn’t name collision because the date/time avoids it then you wont see an increment.

In other words if I do Screenshot_<title>_<#> from the same window then I see the title and an incrementing number.

Oh wow, that makes sense. That is unfortunate since I feel having time/date could be useful, but I personally also like knowing the # of screenshot taken.
Thanks for your help! Marked as solution.

Edit: I apologize, tested afterwards and so far is not completely solved - When <title> says “Window Title” does it refer to the window of the screenshot being taken or just “Spectacle”? Because it still fails to name the windows (Dolphin, Brave) however with time/date removed, the sequential numbering works, even on different windows (which makes sense, since there is no title name on the saved file)
Edit 2: I just figured it out - don’t know why my brain thought it would make sense that having the “select rectangular region” option would be able to grab the windows’ names. Of course it wasn’t going to work. When I notice that, tried with “Window Screenshot” and the window name worked correctly. That is not my preferred way of screenshotting, so I’ll leave it at date + hour + sequential numbering just in case.

Thank you so much for the help! - I know I’m not the brightest on the block, but I really wish they would change the description or expand it a little bit.

It should refer to the title in the titlebar. Here’s a quick example of what I see on my end:

But there still could be a bug worth opening at kde considering your particular setup, if it doesn’t work.

PS: It would be cool if the forum would allow the upload of some short video clips, so we don’t have to use the caveman animated image method.
