Solved one problem, encountered another

*** UPDATE IN NEXT POST ***

In a recent post describing my inability to get the current EOS install media to be recognized by my (mid-2011) MacMini, I finally had an idea and a bit of breakthrough…

I managed to successfully install a legacy Feb 2021 ISO image of EOS after confirming SHA256. I even now have functioning wifi (although ethernet not recognized yet)… but here’s my current problem:

I successfully updated the mirrors. But then when trying to update the system itself - either through the Welcome screen or via sudo pacman or yay - I get ERRORS stating that the various .db files in /var/lib/pacman/sync are in an unrecognized archive format and the update then fails.

Any thoughts on how to address this current obstacle? If so, much appreciated!

[BTW, the “reflector-simple” mirror update option is shown to be in effect if that matters]

UPDATE IN NEXT POST

I seem to have found the solution here:

I share this update in case it helps anyone else in a similar situation (as if that’s likely?)… but this is the pay-it-forward principle in action

The forum is an outstanding resource! :+1:
