Hi, I recently installed the Cinnamon desktop as well as Hyprland. For some reason I can’t use my mouse or keyboard while in a Wayland session, being Hyprland or the Wayland version of Cinnamon. I can unplug and plug my USB mouse, and then the mouse works, but unfortunately I am on a laptop so I can’t do the same for the keyboard (no USB keyboard). This issue is not present via X11.
I can use the login screen fine and boot into both environments, but once I’m in I have to either reboot using the Cinnamon menu or hit the power button on my laptop.
I looked through the output of “journalctl -xe” and didn’t find anything out of the ordinary.
Below is the output of “lsusb”, which shows my mouse as detected.
Well, it now appears that the restart/shutdown buttons in the Cinnamon menu don’t work now. When I hit either of them, my screen goes black for a second and then launches back into the desktop environment. It then performs the restart/shutdown after about 20-30 seconds.
I tried doing sudo restart now via terminal after the relaunch but it said something along the lines of “blocking the restart process”
Systemd was hanging on me on shutdown/reboot for a few minutes before shutting down. I changed the timer from 90s to 10s until they get around that bug. Remember wayland on cinnamon is experimental at this time.
I noticed you changed the title from your 1st problem to the second problem. This will not help folks who run into the first problem as it will not come up in a search.
Weird, I also did that update during this discussion but it didn’t seem to fix it (at least for me). Maybe another reboot will fix it. Will continue to use X11 when in Cinnamon, Hyprland works now though. I appreciate your quick responses and help very much.
