[SOLVED] Issues updateing a system

In light of recent events with the toolchain thing,
It seems I can’t fully update a machine, please advise.

:: Searching AUR for updates…
→ libunique: local (1.1.6-10) is newer than AUR (1.1.6-8)
→ Missing AUR Packages: eos-base hardinfo js68 kdepim-apps-libs kross-interpreters libnm-glib libopenaptx perl-gtk2-ex-formfactory
→ Flagged Out Of Date AUR Packages: libuser perl-gtk2-ex-simple-list snapd-glib system-config-samba

for the aur I’d recommend giving it a few days to upgrade

BTW not a pro opinion just what Ive found works best

Have you tried doing a clean build? That should do that trick.

I reinstalled it but it downgraded it
downgrading package libunique (1.1.6-10 => 1.1.6-8)

Now it shows as missing

AUR update check:
:: Searching AUR for updates...
 -> Missing AUR Packages:  eos-base  hardinfo  js68  kdepim-apps-libs  kross-interpreters  libnm-glib  libopenaptx  perl-gtk2-ex-formfactory
 -> Flagged Out Of Date AUR Packages: libuser perl-gtk2-ex-simple-list snapd-glib system-config-samba
 there is nothing to do

My guess would be the aur package wants those updatees

If you don’t need those packages to do anything that is vital id recommend giving it a few days then trying to update

I don’t see it listed as missing in your posted output:

Missing AUR Packages: eos-base hardinfo js68 kdepim-apps-libs kross-interpreters libnm-glib libopenaptx perl-gtk2-ex-formfactory

:man_shrugging:

Refer to this its what i assume is something to do with it thug i may be werong

You are correct, I think I was looking at a different file but had that one on the brain. Thanks for noticing.

Here is what I don’t understand.
3 out of 4 machines update ok
But this one headless machine all the icons disappear from the desktop.

I wouldn’t think anything from aur would remove desktop icons, but what do I know lol
navigating anywhere with alt+F2 is a pain, but samba and my media server are running so
I guess I’ll wait a few days as suggested.

It’s just baffling to me why a laptop I might update once a month,
still screaming for missing antergos files works fine,
and one I update almost daily blows me crap. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looks like these packages do not exist anymore. They are either removed or in some cases replaced by a new package name.

You can try

  1. finding potential replacement packages if they exist
  2. uninstalling the packages that no more exist

simple not at the repo and not at the AUR… can be both and from the first two I see they are simply not there anymore… eos-base was on our repo and is removed… and hardinfo is in AUR only now:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/hardinfo-gtk3 renamed to hardinfo-gtk3

Initially when I saw these, I wasn’t sure if it was related to the recent other issues.
Since today after work all machines updated and working.
I did notice it took 2 reboots to get LTS to load properly, but ultimately worked.

I consider this post solved, but,
Only one issue remains I haven’t solved yet and just in case someone else has the issue, I’ll
just state it as an fyi.

2 machines I update via krdc/x11vnc. Identical config files.
The machine I used shifttime on multiple times may have altered vnc somehow as I think that’s where the missing desktop wallpaper and icons issue started, but they are still messed up on the machine but if I plug in a monitor and re-connect I get desktop and icons through vnc connection.
Other machine no problem, guessing vnc reinstall.
So just saying, only issue left, unless its happened to someone and they know what messed up, I’ll figure it out eventually, just happy everything else is working.
Thankyou
