Any ideas/suggestions?
Switch to phonon-qt6-vlc. That’s the officially maintained package from KDE.

That was going to be my first suggestion. Alternatively there’s the maintained phonon-qt6-mpv-git in the AUR.

Perfect. Thanks, @Schlaefer. That did it.
Ran yay -S phonon-qt6-vlc then yay -Rns phonon-qt6-mpv. All is well.

Won’t installing phonon-qt6-vlc install VLC? The reason I installed phonon-qt6-mpv was so I could uninstall the VLC package in the first place.
I just ran yay -R phonon-qt6-mpv?
Yes it is a dependency, but you don’t have to use it (and it does some things that mpv can’t).

Had the same problem, glad I ran into this post. Fresh install from a week ago so I have no clue how this happened.

A week ago, that package was in the repos and has since been dropped.
There is also a pinned post on this topic:

Thank you. New here, but also new to this type of forum software. I did not have VLC installed but I don’t mind it either.
Thanks again.
