Solution: Duplicate icons in tint2 system tray

If you find duplicate icons in the Openbox tint2 system tray, dex and systemd may be the culprits. Each may be starting a separate process leading to duplicates. If dex is started via the Openbox autostart script then comment it out and rely on systemd only to start needed processes.

I was reading the dex page the other day. Looks like maintenance continues on dex but the developer has switched to using systemd with its similar .target/ .service files. Or rather dex uses similar .target/ .service files to systemd. My goal is to rotate my wallpaper every ten minutes. Natively feh doesn’t support this in background mode, so I’m looking at alternatives. Any thoughts on using dex rather than systemd for this?

If you have duplicate icons - then you have duplicate launchers.

Take a look in ~/.config/autostart and ~/.config/openbox/autostart
